The Kindergarten Program
Early childhood is an important stage in a child’s development. Children begin to explore independence, initiative, decision making, creativity, the ability to learn, the ability to relate to others and develop feelings of self-worth. What young children learn at this stage will have a major impact on successful learning experiences in school and personal development. The purpose of the Kindergarten program is to provide hands on learning experiences, to meet the diverse needs of children and to help prepare them for entry into grade one.
In Kindergarten your child learns through play! When children play, they learn about themselves and their surroundings. Young children learn how to talk to others, make friends, move their bodies, apply rules, use their imagination and familiarize themselves with the world through playing. Play helps your child gain self-confidence to engage in new experiences and environments. We will learn through structured hands-on-activities and during play-based learning activities. Through organized and purposeful play, students develop the skills they need in preparation for grade 1.
In Kindergarten students learn about eight major learning areas:
Early Numeracy
Citizenship and Identity
Environment and Community Awareness
Personal and Social Responsibility
Physical skills and Well-being
Creative Expression
Religious Education
