Read the short stories below and complete the assignments that follow.
Step 1: Read this article (click here) on how to properly write theme statements and use the template in the article. (Note that short stories will have full quotation marks around them, as in "The Paper Menagerie.")
Step 2: Write a theme statement on one of the stories you read above. Under that one sentence theme statement provide 3 quotations from the story/text that support your idea. Give a brief sentence or two analysis as to how each quotation supports your theme statement. Submit to 'Theme Statement' Dropbox in D2L. Assignment TEMPLATE LINK CLICK HERE
Step 3: If you need a re-do based on your dropbox feedback in D2L contact your instructor and discuss a plan to work towards improvement. This is an important step in completing the C.A.R.T. (Short Story Assignment 2)

ASSIGNMENT: Select one of the short stories above to respond to the following writing prompt:
Discuss the idea(s) developed by the author in your chosen text about the nature of motivations that direct an individual's course of action.
Your theme statement for this CART is going to be different than the one in Short Story Assignment 1 (the warm-up) because now you have a topic to direct your thinking. Your theme statement will be a response to the question above. If you are not on topic, then you are not executing the task.
