This course is divided into 4 parts with an ongoing writing portfolio, located across the top right side of this site page. You are currently on the HOME page but you can navigate the course by clicking on the menu items along the top banner. For the Course Outline and a list of Assignments, click on the document below. Once you click, you will see a square with an arrow on the upper left side of the textbox. Click this arrow to fully open the document. Use this technique throughout the site to open documents.
Again, This course is divided into 4 parts. If you are on a quarter system you should be done one part every two weeks. Semester system students should complete one part a month. You may redo assignments within each part's time frame.
Recommended Path: Start with the writing portfolio and do the first three entries. Then move through the dropbox items as they appear in parts 1-4. The remainder of the portfolio work should be completed as you go.
Part 1 - 4 assignments go into the appropriate Dropboxes in D2L.
The Writing Portfolio (Part 1 ) requires you to create a Google Site to post specific assignments. Please title your Google Site "Your Name's Writing Portfolio". Many of your assignments will go in your portfolio (see Assignment List below). The portfolio is a place to grow as a writer and learn. Take chances there and use new words and ways of writing. You will not be "punished" for taking risks or making mistakes if it is in your own words and you are learning.
Watch this super short tutorial for creating a google site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9P8dbtak-I or this longer video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPzJzAScdKQ (probably more than you need).

Diploma Prep (Part 6) - the last item across the top banner. Please check the Diploma dates on D2L posts to determine when you should prepare. For example, Part A of the ELA Diploma might be scheduled BEFORE the end of the course.
All other assignments (Part 1 - Part 4) will go into the appropriate Dropboxes in D2L.
VOCABULARY & READING COMPREHENSION
To help you prepare for Part B of the Diploma, please make sure you practice by taking the Reading Comprehension (RC) and Vocabulary quizzes located on your D2L course. These are NOT for marks, but very important to assess your readiness.
There are seven vocabulary quizzes based on the Vocabulary Booklet provided; these are words that have frequently appeared on previous exams. There are also three reading comprehension quizzes that provide practice in answering multiple choice questions similar to what you will complete in Part B of the Diploma Exam. The readings for these practice quizzes are provided in the links below.
TO FIND: Go to your D2L Homepage and scrolls the newsfeed to find the subject line: Vocabulary and Reading Comp Practice. The links are all there!
