In CVUSD, parents and /legal guardians and students have the choice to request an alternative assignment when the content of core literature materials are in conflict with personal sensibilities and/ or values. 

If you are choosing to opt out of Core Literature title in your English class, please complete the requested information on the Alternative Core Literature Selection Request Form. In the Title and Author of the Book section please list the novel that you find objectionable.

9th grade - Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver

10th grade - Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

11th grade - Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

12th grade - Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
