Advancement Via Individual Determination

AVID is a student-centered program designed to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college, career, and life.  In the AVID Elective class, students receive academic, social, and emotional support to succeed in TOHS's most rigorous courses.  Students hone their skills in reading, writing, inquiry, collaboration, and organization.

 Profile of an AVID Student

• GPA for 2.0 to 3.5

• Takes College Prep (CP) or Honors & Advanced Placement (AP) classes

• Pursues the A-G Requirements

• Hard worker

• Positive attitude

• Collaborative nature

 What AVID Is Not

It can be challenging to clearly define the AVID program.  But the AVID program is definitely not:

• A remedial course

• A study hall

• An intervention program
