Hi, Winkley Wolverines!
My name is Kara Kasberg, and I am the school counselor here at Winkley. I began my position in February of 2022, and am so excited to return this year! I taught middle school choir for the last eight years all in Leander ISD. Teaching Fine Arts has given me a unique perspective on achievement through a sense of community and belonging. My undergraduate degree was obtained at the University of North Texas, and my graduate degree is through Angelo State University.
I became a school counselor because I believe in the power of relationships in forming positive decision-making with students. I show students that I care about their well-being through being present, positive, and proactive. I firmly believe that young people are the future of our world, and showing them that they matter is important to me.
Community is one of the strongest resources that students have in their journey to becoming adults, and partnering with parents and caregivers in a team approach to student success is the best support there is! I actively work with teachers to be a practical resource so that they feel empowered in their classrooms, and I always welcome parent partnerships in working with your students.
My hobbies include reading, baking bread, any type of cooking, and going to the Texas beach!
If we haven't met yet, I hope to very soon! Please reach out to me at any time. It is a true joy to be a partner in your child's education.
