This is a list put together by the AVID teachers as a courtesy and resource. We are not endorsing, promoting, or responsible for the information related to these scholarships.
Any deadlines or scholarships listed are subject to change and are made by the organization offering the scholarships. Always double check deadlines and requirements.
BEWARE OF SCHOLARSHIP SCAMS!
You should NOT have to give your full social security number, a credit card number, or a deposit for any scholarship! The ONLY time you might have to pay a fee is for fine arts scholarships where an audition is involved as someone has to come to judge these. These fees should be minimal. Some scholarships for universities may required the last 4 digits of your social to match with your application - when in doubt - ASK!
Federal Trade Commission: Consumer Information - Avoiding Scholarship Scams
- You will not be able to accept any scholarship at any university without having a current FAFSA on file
- FAFSA app opens October 1st annually
- FAFSA is the absolute first place to start for figuring out your EFC, Pell Grant status, and what types of free money you could receive from the government as well as what government loans are available for you to take out before having to find private loans.

- SODEXO Foundation - Application is open October 5th to December 5th annually; Open to students ages 5 to 25 (Kindergarten to Grad School); recipients of this award receive a $5,000 scholarship for their education as well as a matching grant in their name for the hunger-related charity of their choice.
- Superpower Scholarship - 13 years of age or older; resident of the 50 US states or D.C.; will enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education by fall of 2020; worth $2500

- Coca-Cola Scholar Foundation - very competitive, you must put time and effort in to make sure your application is unique and stands out
- Conquering Adversity Scholarship - Applicant must submit an essay on how they have overcome a hardship.

- Gates Millennium Scholars Program
- Gates Scholars - Scholarship is open to exceptional, Pell-eligible, minority, high school seniors who are student leaders. Ideal candidates will have an outstanding academic record in high school (top 10% of graduating class), demonstrated leadership ability, and exceptional personal success skills.

- Golden Eagle Coins Scholarship Program - Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in high school or college within the United States with at least 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be a citizen of, permanent resident, or hold a valid student visa in the United States or Canada. Applicant must have designed an innovative project that makes a difference in the lives of others and submit an essay describing the goal of the particular project and provide supporting documentation. All submissions must be uploaded no later than 11:59 pm PST on the 20th of each month. The submission window closes starting the 21st and will reopen on the 1st at 8:00 a.m.
- Hispanic Scholarship Consortium
- Hispanic Scholarship Fund
- Horatio Alger Association Scholarship - Scholarship is open to high school seniors in the United States who demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income). Applicant must be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- Huntley Wealth Care Scholarship - Open to graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate students who have lost at least one parent and that parent either had no life insurance or were underinsured. Applicant must submit an article or video sharing their story about their loss and how it financially impacted their life.
- Illustrators of the Future Contest - Contest is open to new and amateur artists who have not been professionally published and paid for more than three black-and-white story illustrations, or more than one process-color painting, in media distributed broadly to the general public.
- Innovation in Education Scholarship - Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in high school or college within the United States with at least 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be a citizen of, permanent resident, or hold a valid student visa in the United States or Canada. Applicant must have designed an innovative project that makes a difference in the lives of others and submit an essay describing the goal of the particular project and provide supporting documentation. - Olin E. Teague Scholarship - Open to graduating high school seniors who are U.S. citizens and plan to pursue careers in the aerospace fields.
- OppU Achievers Scholarship - Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens who are graduating high school seniors or current undergraduate students with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to financial literacy.
- PEO STAR Scholarship
- Pretty Photoshop Actions Scholarship Program - Applicant must submit an essay on a topic related to Photoshop.
- Questbridge Scholars - Program is open to high school seniors who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or students, regardless of citizenship, currently attending high school in the United States. Applicant must have primarily A’s in the most challenging courses available, be in the top 5-10% of their graduating class, and have strong standardized test scores (if taken). Finalists typically come from households earning less than $65,000 annually for a family of four, and often less. The program is only open for students considering one or more of Questbridge’s college partners (see website for details). Often finalists are first generation college students.
- Ron Brown Scholar Program - African American students
- Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarships - There are four scholarships RMHS/Scholars - open to all HS seniors. RMHC/Asia - applicant must have at least one parentof Asian-Pacific heritage. RMHC/African-American Future Achievers - applicant must have at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean heritage. RMHC/HACER - applicant must have at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino heritage.

- The Links Inc. - Town Lake Chapter - African American high school senior graduating from an Austin-area high school
- Tree Center Scholarship Program - Scholarship is open to current high school and college students in the United States with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must have designed an innovative product that makes a difference in the lives of others (this could be a website, series of blogs, an app, fundraising event, etc.) and submit an essay describing the goal of the project.
- United Heritage Community Scholarship - two $5,000 to high school seniors who best exemplify the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People"

- Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition - Open to students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions. Applicant must submit a 3-5 minute essay on this year’s theme; “Why My Vote Matters”

REMEMBER: Scholarships are not just for high school students.

- A+ Federal Credit Union Scholarships - Awards college student scholarships if you have at least 60 hours of collegiate work AND be successfully admitted into a School of Education. Also awards Teachers working on a Masters Degree!
- AAAEA – Capital Area Scholarship Program - Open to current student members of AAAEA – Capital Area or a child of a current member of the association. Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student currently studying in the field of engineering, architecture or computer science/information technology.
- Abelson Law Firm Scholarship Essay Contest
- ABFSE Undergraduate Scholarship - Open to students who have completed at least one semester (or quarter) of study in a program in funeral service or mortuary science education accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education.
- Academic Excellence Award - Open to students enrolled in a college, university, or graduate school with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be taking responsibility to improve his or her community and must share an essay on the topic.
- AceableAgent Higher Education Scholarship - Applicant must submit an essay or video on what home is to them.
- Accident Survivor Scholarship - (from Briskman Briskman & Greenberg) Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students who have overcome serious injuries suffered as a result of a car accident, medical error, or other incident caused by someone’s carelessness.
- Accident Survivor Scholarship - (from MyPhillyLawyer) Scholarship is open to students in law school or college who are overcoming injuries caused by a car accident, medical error or other incident caused by negligence.
- Accident Survivor Scholarship (from Todd J. Leonard Law Firm) Available to survivors or immediate family members of survivors, of car accidents, medical malpractice, or other incidents where someone else’s negligence caused them harm. Applicant must be a current college student.
- ACFEF Scholarships for Apprenticeship, Certificate and Post-Secondary Degree Programs - Open to exemplary students who are currently enrolled in an accredited, post-secondary college, with a major in either culinary or pastry arts, or be an ACFEF registered apprentice.
- ACS Scholars Program - ACS awards renewable scholarships to underrepresented minority students who want to enter the fields of chemistry or chemistry-related fields. American Indian high school seniors or college freshman, sophomores, or juniors pursuing a college degree in the chemical sciences or chemical technology are eligible to apply. Deadline: March 1st.
- Actuarial Diversity Scholarship
- Actuarial | Minority Scholarship -Open to undergraduate students who are pursuing an actuarial or mathematics-related degree, with the goal of pursuing an actuarial career. Applicant must be a member of one of the following minority groups: African-American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian or Pacific Islander, Alaskan Eskimo or other. If selected, student must complete a summer internship at Mutual of Omaha’s home office (paid housing, competitive hourly rate of pay, financial incentives, etc.)
- ADL Achievers Scholarship - Open to students who are enrolled full-time in high school or at least part-time in college, graduate, professional, or trade school. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and have at least a 2.8 GPA. Applicant must submit an essay, video or infographic on one of three given topics related to goals, dreams, or common problem during higher education.

- Beldon Scholarship - Open to students seeking a degree in business, communications, marketing, or a related field. Applicant must have at least a 3.5 GPA. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to business.
- Beth Rom Rymer Scholarships
- Bill Kane Undergraduate Scholarship - Open to undergraduate health education majors who attend an accredited college/university in the United States or a U.S. territory.
- Bisexual Foundation Scholarship Award - Annual fund awarding up to $1,000 per award to selected graduate students to advance research on the psychology of bisexuality.
- BMO Capital Markets Lime Connect Equity Through Education Scholarship - Scholarship is open to current undergraduate and graduate students in the United States and Canada. Applicant must be pursuing a degree in business/commerce, computer science, engineering, math, physics, statistics or a related disciplined and must be interested in a career in Financial Services with a focus on Capital Markets preferred.
- BooksRun Scholarship - Scholarship is open to current undergraduate and graduate students with at least a 2.75 GPA. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to textbooks.
- Bridging Scholarships - Open to undergraduate students majoring in any field of study who will be participating in a study-abroad program in Japan. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
- Brown & Caldwell - Electrical and I&C scholarship opportunities for college juniors and seniors
- Business Student Scholarship - Scholarship is open to students currently working towards a degree in a field of business such as Accounting, Advertising, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Human Resources, International Relations, Management, Political Science, Public Relations, etc. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
- C. Lamar Meek Memorial Scholarship - Open to students enrolled in an accredited college or university in the state of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma or Texas who have undertaken an investigation/research/outreach project in the area of medical and veterinary entomology.

- CastleBranch-GNSA Scholarship - Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a graduate nursing program at an AACN member school of nursing who is a SNSA member. Applicant must have at least a 3.5 GPA.

- Catherine W. Pierce Scholarship - Scholarship is open to current college students who are pursing a degree in an Art, Art History and other eligible majors.
