If you don't take your senior portrait by Dec. 2 with Photo Texas, you won't be included in the yearbook and we want to make sure that doesn't happen!

What is a senior portrait?

Senior portraits run in the senior section of the yearbook where each student is wearing a tux or a drape. This is not the senior ad section of the yearbook where you can purchase part of (or a whole) page and submit your own photos.

When is the deadline to take my senior portrait?

Dec. 2, 2021. If a senior fails to take a portrait by Dec. 2, they will not be pictured in the senior section of the 2021-22 yearbook, and we want to do everything we can to make sure that does not happen!

How do I get my portrait taken?

OPTION 1: Go to the Photo Texas Photography Studio. Make an appointment (call 512-617-7780) and take your picture by Dec. 2 at the studio. There’s a sitting fee, but it’s a longer session than on-campus portraits. Call ASAP as portrait slots fill up fast.

OPTION 2: Take your portrait at Vista Ridge on Nov. 15-19 or Dec. 2 (make-ups/retakes). You must sign up for an on-campus portrait. There's a lot of seniors, and a sign up will guarantee your spot. The online sign-up will be available and posted HERE the last week of October. Parents, if you are signing up your senior, please coordinate with them so you both don't sign up for a portrait slot as space is limited. It's free! If you are taking your portrait in the tux, wear a white T-shirt. If you are taking your portrait in the drape, wear a spaghetti strap top. Portraits will be on the cafeteria stage.

Can I submit my own senior portrait from a photographer I hire?

No, not for your senior portrait. Photo Texas Photography is the official photography studio for Vista Ridge High School. If you do not have your senior portrait taken with Photo Texas, you will not be pictured in the yearbook. You can, however, purchase a senior tribute at www.balfour.com and submit your own photos.

What’s the difference between taking my senior portrait at school versus going to the Photo Texas studio?

You can choose! Either take your senior portrait at Vista Ridge OR go to the local Photo Texas Photography studio.

  1. Why take it at school? It’s free! And it’s a quick 15-minute session. You’ll take your yearbook pose in the tux or drape and a cap and gown photo, and then you’re done!

  2. Why take it at the studio? The photographer will spend more time with you and take a few additional poses, but there is a sitting fee.

If I have an appointment at the Photo Texas Studio, do I have to take my portrait on campus, too?

No, you can make an appointment at the local Photo Texas Photography studio as long as you take your portrait by Dec. 2.

Do I have to pay to have my senior portrait taken on campus at VRHS?

No! But you must sign up prior to using the scheduling link. The link will be available the last week of October and posted HERE.

How do I sign up for an on-campus portrait slot?

The Sign-Up Genius link will be available the last week of October and posted HERE.

What time should I pick for my on-campus portrait?

Please note when selecting a portrait slot, it is up to your teacher’s discretion whether you are allowed to leave their class or not for your portrait. Do not make an appointment during your most academically rigorous class. Off-periods, Ranger Time, after school or electives are your best bet.

Will I get a paper pass for my portrait appointment?

No, use your Sign-Up Genius confirmation as your pass.

What should I bring to my portrait session?

  1. For tuxedos, you should wear a plain white T-shirt with NO collar. Photo Texas provides the tux shirt, tie and jacket.

  2. For drapes, you should bring a spaghetti strap top and undergarment with straps that can be pushed down slightly over the shoulders. Please NO sports bras or racerback undergarments. Photo Texas will provide the black drape.

  3. Coming unprepared will result in the student needing to reschedule
