PHOTOJOURNALISM class

I’m so glad you’re here! This is a great class. In photojournalism, you will document people’s stories through the camera lens and share their experiences. In a nutshell, you will take photos and talk to people. As a photographer, you will be a storyteller. This is a comprehensive course where we will study the basic principles of photography and apply them to visual storytelling. Your work could be published The Word news media website or in The Lonestar yearbook.

Due to our unusual start to the school year, photojournalism will look a little different. Attending and photographing events may not always be a possibility. However, we will make the best of it, and it’s going to be a great year!

Here’s a few topics we will discuss:

  • Camera Basics & Operation

  • Composition

  • Interviewing & Caption Writing

  • Lighting & Exposure

  • Technical Quality

  • Digital Darkroom & Photoshop

  • History of Camera / Photography

  • Photo Ethics

*You do not have to have your own camera to be in this class. You may check out a camera or you can use your own if you have it.
