Under the national NJHS chapter, students qualify to apply based on their academic performance. However, students also must demonstrate their candidacy in the areas of commitment to service, leadership, character, and citizenship, all of which is reviewed by the faculty council.
The process for Stiles NJHS selection is indepth and confidential. Each student will have four different scorers for their written responses, one scorer per response. The student ID number is the only personal information they see. The selected candidates must meet at least 80% of the total points as well as the majority of faculty council votes. To keep the process anonymous, the advisors do not vote and are the only ones that see the names at the end of the process.
