Leander ISD has the following QUEST-G/T identification dates and processes.
If a student was identified and being served through another Leander ISD campus that they are directly transferring from QUEST-G/T services will continue.
If a student was identified and being served in a G/T program from a school outside of Leander ISD, the student's records will be evaluated and the student will be assessed to determine if there is a continued educational need for G/T services to continue, based on Leander ISD's identification and service model.
Kinder Screening: All Kindergarten students are screened for possible consideration for G/T services. The initial G/T screening for all Kindergarten students begins in January. Any student who meets the screening criteria will receive a letter home to give permission for testing. The State of Texas requires that Kindergarten gifted students be served by March 1.
Grades 1-12 G/T Referrals: All first through 12th graders may be referred for screening and identification. Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, screening and assessment for elementary will take place during a spring window each school year.
