• En séptimo grado, estudiaremos una amplia variedad de temas sobre la historia de Texas. 

A continuación se muestra una lista de las diferentes unidades y temas que cubriremos:

Unidad 1 - La gente indígena de Texas

Estudiaremos los diferentes pueblos indígenas de Texas y cómo se adaptaron a su medio ambiente y cómo lo modificaron para cumplir con sus necesidades según su cultura.

Unidad 2 - El impacto de la colonización

En esta unidad, se entiende la influencia que tuvieron los conquistadores españoles en la formación de Texas y cómo a través de las misiones intentó dominar a las culturas indígenas.

Unidad 3 - Pasos hacia la independencia

Estudiaremos las diferencias culturales y políticas entre los colonos anglosajones y el gobierno mexicano que generaron tensiones. Estalló la lucha, se formó un gobierno provisional, y los tejanos ganaron su independencia.

Unidad 4 - La República de Texas:  las fronteras, el terreno, y el poder

Con un gobierno democráctico y basándose en los principios de la Constitución de los Estados Unidos, la lucha por el poder, el terreno, y las fronteras entre los habitantes continúa forjando lo que hoy conocemos como Texas.

Unidad 5 - La Guerra Civil y la Reconstrucción

En esta unidad, aprenderemos cómo los eventos y problemas de la Guerra Civil y la Reconstrucción dieron como resultado un cambio político, económico, y social en Texas.

Unidad 6 - Cambio de siglo: La industrialización y los cambios en la sociedad

Los estudiantes aprenden sobre las industrias y los recursos naturales en Texas con un pensamiento crítico sobre quienes benefician y quienes sufren durante está época de industrialización y urbanización.

Unidad 7 - Construyendo un Texas mejor

Los estudiantes investigan sobre los eventos históricos importantes en Texas de la primera mitad del siglo XX, incluyendo la Gran Depresión, La Cuenca del Polvo, la Segunda Guerra Mundial y el Movimiento de los Derechos Civiles.

Unidad 8 - Texas contemporáneo

Estudiaremos las industrias en Texas desde los 1950s hasta la actualidad, y analizarermos el impacto de la ciencia y la tecnología en las comunidades locales y globales.

• This year we will study a wide variety of topics about Texas history.
  Below is a list of the different units and topics we will be covering:

Unit 1 - The Indigenous People of Texas.

We will study the different indigenous people of Texas, how they adapted to their environment and how they modified it to meet their needs according to their culture.

Unit 2 - The Impact of Colonization

In this unit, we will explore the influence that the Spanish conquistadors had on the creation of Texas and how they attempted to dominate indigenous cultures through the mission system.

Unit 3 - Steps to Independence

We will investigate the cultural and political differences between the Anglo settlers and the Mexican government.  These differences led to tensions, fighting, rebellion, a provisional government and, ultimately, Texas independence.

Unit 4 - The Republic of Texas:  Borders, Land, and Power

With a democratic government and based on the principles of the U.S. Constitution, the struggle for over borders, power, and land among the inhabitants continued to forge what we know today as Texas.  We will explore various cultural groups that made Texas their home.

Unit 5 - Civil War and Reconstruction

In this unit, we will learn how the events and issues of the Civil War and Reconstruction resulted in political, economic, and social change in Texas.

Unit 6 - Turn of the Century:  Industrialization and Changes in Society

We will learn about industries and natural resources in Texas, thinking critically about who benefited and who suffered during this era of industrialization and urbanization.

Unit 7 - Building a Better Texas

We will research important historical events in Texas in the first half of the 20th century, including the Great Depression, The Dust Bowl, World War II, and the Civil Rights Movement.

Unit 8 - Contemporary Texas

We will study industries in Texas from the 1950s to the present, and analyze the impact of science and technology on local and global communities.
