Kindergarten QUEST

QUEST-G/T serves kindergarten students in two ways:

During the first semester, QUEST teachers provide enrichment opportunities for all kindergarten students.

1. The QUEST teacher goes into each kindergarten classroom at least four times during the semester to provide foundational enrichment activities in critical and creative thinking. This helps prepare the students for the type of thinking that will be used as part of the screening process in January. The QUEST teacher is also available to provide, depending upon campus needs and time constraints, additional support and enrichment for kindergarten teachers and students.

2. The initial QUEST screening for all Kindergarten students begins in January each year. All kindergarten students are automatically screened for the QUEST-G/T services. The state of Texas requires that kindergarten gifted students are served by March 1. However, the screening process is ongoing, and we will continue to gather information about your student's intellectual and creative thinking abilities throughout the kindergarten year. You will be notified in writing if your child has met the criteria and will need to give permission to move forward to testing. If you don’t hear from us, please know that the screening process continues throughout kindergarten and first grade, as we keep a close eye on students looking for indicators of giftedness.
