Destination Imagination Team Manager Responsibilities
Please refer to the LISD Destination Imagination page for more information.
As a Team Manager you should plan on:
Meeting with campus QUEST Teacher/DI Facilitator, as needed, to go over logistics, receive materials, etc.
Facilitating weekly team practices to guide the team to tournament. ***May need more frequent meetings as you get closer to tournament date.
Attending Team Manager basic training (check the Heart of Texas DI website for information and dates about trainings)
Studying the DI Program materials. While it is not up to you to solve the challenges, it is up to you to make sure the team understands the rules of the program and of the challenge they are working to solve.
Possibly providing storage of props the team is working on in part of your garage, or possibly may be able to store at school, wherever team meets.
Recruiting appraisers to represent your team, with the help of campus QUEST teacher/DI Facilitator.
***This is a REQUIREMENT for participating in the Regional Tournament: Each team must also have 2 appraisers. Appraisers must attend a 1/2 day training (typically the end of January/early February) and work FULL day of the Regional Meet (as required by assigned job).
Possibly attending Team Manager forms training (end of January)
Going to Team Mgr. Instant Challenge trainings (see website)
Completing T-Shirt order for your team and submitting it to the Heart of Texas Region
by t-shirt deadline. Possibly do a check in with your Campus QUEST/DI Facilitator at
this time.
Checking challenge clarifications as the regional meet approaches. These are published
by Destination Imagination Inc. at www.idodi.org.
Checking in with Campus QUEST/DI Facilitator -- they are there to help!
Communicating with team parents and setting a plan for Competition Day,
Enlisting help from parents. Be positive and upbeat as the team members are watching you. Remember: the entire day is a learning experience, especially when great or tough things happen...it’s DI!
Please NOTE:
Leander ISD sponsors and pays for each LISD team. While the DI Campus Representatives strive to put each team member in the challenge of their choice, at times, the make up of the team, grade level, or openings may determine team placement. The LISD Campus Representative makes the final team placement decisions for each campus.
School Jurisdiction and FERPA apply to all DI Team Members’ meetings, whether on school property or not, since DI Teams are sponsored school groups. Please refer to the LISD Destination Imagination page for more information.
Team manager required background check information can be found here. *LISD does not pay for background checks.
