Welcome to 6th grade ELA -Team S

One of the best analogies a mentor provided me is the three-legged stool. Education is a three-legged stool composed of student, parent, and teacher. All parts are important and if any is missing the stool will fall apart. I whole heartedly believe that students, parents, and teachers are a team and when we work together everyone succeeds. Please know that my door is always open and I am ready to meet with you and help you in any way.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

In an inclusive classroom the needs of all students are met. Each

student is valued and each student’s academic, social, emotional,

and communication needs are met. An inclusive classroom

includes students with and without disabilities learning, working,

and growing together side by side.

Inclusive classrooms benefit all students.

With the above statement in mind, I will strive to create an environment of inclusion and diversity within my classroom. I believe all students should feel accepted and recognized for their unique abilities and qualities and see themselves as an integral part of our classroom community. To succeed in this endeavor I will provide materials, activities, and instructional opportunities to meet each child's needs that are respectful of diversity: gender, disability, age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, race, and culture. I want parents and students to know my door is always open and I welcome suggestions and comments.
