Hello! My name is Michael Hauenstein. I grew up in Wisconsin but had the good sense to come to Texas for college. After graduating from Rice University with a B.A. in English, I worked for many years in the fields of journalism, publishing, and marketing communications.
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Leander High School to help students improve their writing skills. It was a wonderful experience that inspired me to become a teacher. The 2022-23 school year will be my TENTH teaching English Language Arts at Running Brushy, and my fourth year teaching QUEST Studies!
Outside of class time, I have served Destination Imagination as a team manager and campus coordinator for the past eight years; I coordinate the school Scripps National Spelling Bee; and personally, my wife (LHS IB Programme teacher extraordinaire) and I provide food and shelter to two amazing QUESTers of our own: Our daughter is a 10th grader at Leander High School, and our son is a 7th grader here at RBMS!
I am beyond thrilled to be teaching 6th Grade QUEST Studies and 6th Grade Advanced QUEST ELA again! And I thank you for your interest. Check out the rest of this site for contact details, class policies, and curricular information.
