We will read across the genres using supplemental texts like Scholastic Scope and our textbook, as well as in-class novels and small group book club novels. We will annotate poetry, short stories, excerpts and selected passages from our novels to truly delve into the world of powerful word choice, figurative language, and author's purpose. Your child will be reading several books this year both at school and AT HOME. They should be reading at least 20-30 minutes a night. The research to the right says it all.
