Welcome to 6th Grade Math and Science!

This year is going to be full of discovery, problem-solving, and “aha!” moments. You’re going to stretch your brain in new ways, learn to think like a mathematician, and investigate the world like a scientist.

In Math, we’ll explore:

• How numbers connect to the real world—like comparing prices, figuring out deals, and working with fractions, decimals, and percents.
  
  

• Ratios and proportions—think recipes, maps, and sports stats.
  
  

• Algebra—learning to use letters to stand for numbers and solve equations.
  
  

• Geometry—finding the area, surface area, and volume of cool shapes.
  
  

• Data—making sense of graphs and charts to understand the world around us.
  
  

In Science, we’ll dive into:

• How scientists ask questions, run experiments, and use data to find answers.
  
  

• Matter and energy—what everything is made of and how it changes.
  
  

• Force and motion—how things move, from soccer balls to roller coasters.
  
  

• Earth and space—our weather, natural resources, and the universe beyond our planet.
  
  

• Living things—how plants, animals, and people fit together in the web of life.
