65% - Assessments (Tests are weighted 1.5 in this category)
Tests or quizzes can be corrected or retaken to earn points back on the major grade.
Students can earn 5 additional points on tests or 50% back on quizzes by submitting corrections, for up to 100 pts.
Tests can be retaken for a max grade of 90. These steps must occur in order to complete a retest:
Student must complete corrections on the corrections form. They can be completed at home or in tutorials.
The student must attend a tutorial session, where the student and teacher will go over the completed corrections.
The student will retake a full length test that is different from the original. The higher of the two grades will be kept up to an 90.
35% - Daily Work/Homework
This category will consist of our weekly homework reviews and daily activities. Late assignments will have a max grade of 80 All work must be submitted by the unit test. This category is worth 35% of students’ average.
Students may redo daily work that has been completed and submitted for up to half the points back that they lost. The corrections must be turned in by the unit test to be accepted for credit.
Any work not finished in class will need to be completed by the next school day.
Test reviews will be given as a weekly homework leading up to unit tests. Students should complete 3-4 problems a night to fully understand the material.
For high school credit classes n Texas, state law requires students to be present for at least 90% of class days to earn credit — that means no more than 10% class absences for the semester.
Missing too many days, even for excused reasons, can put your credit at risk. Every class builds on the last, so showing up on time, every time, is key to your success in Algebra 1!
You will have the opportunity to makeup incomplete hours during Saturday School. Other options will also be provided.
