When do Tigerettes Practice?

We practice in the mornings, 3 days a week, starting at 7:30 am. Morning practices typically end at 8:45 am. We take academic tutorials and studio dance into consideration. 

What can I expect as a Tigerette?

Tigerettes is a competitive dance team, not a dance class. We also do not have an off season! Being a Tigerette is not only an outstanding achievement and huge honor, but being on the team is demanding physically and emotionally.  We practice before school and the expectation is comparable to any other athletic sport team in terms of level of commitment to their teammates and directors- We are a UIL Sport. Please make sure that you are participating for the right reasons before you spend money on it.  All items ordered and camp fees are non-refundable.

Do I have to take studio dance classes?

No. However, it is highly recommended to take studio dance classes as this will help you in your journey to become a LHS Blue Belle or a Glenn Guardian if that is your goal. Studio classes give you more hands on technique and a wide variety of skill necessary to continue dance after middle school. Classes recommended are ballet, jazz, leaps & turns, hip hop, dance team prep.

Do I need to pick up any paperwork?

Yes. You can pick up your paperwork at the parent meeting in February.

Can I be in Athletics and be on Dance Team as well?

Yes and No. You can be in Athletics & Tigerettes but those will be special circumstances & you will need to clear that with Miss V and Mrs. Clow.  Unfortunately, sometimes conflicts with these activities cannot be avoided. You CANNOT do 7th Grade Volleyball AND Tigerettes.

Can I be in band/choir and be on dance team?

Yes. You can be in either band OR choir and do dance team at the same time. However, sometimes conflicts with these activities cannot be avoided.

How much does it cost to be a Tigerette?

The cost for your field uniform and all practice and performance wear, shoes, duffel bag, and summer camp after taxes are included is approximately $500. Not included in this are competition season (a separate audition team), and any additional optional expenses. This also does not include replacing items that are lost or become ruined.
