In 2007, the Cedar Park Middle School Band was invited to perform at the prestigious Midwest International Band and Orchestra conference in Chicago, Illinois. In 2008, the band program was awarded the John Phillip Sousa Sudler Cup as an international recognition of its long history of musical success. The CPMS saxophone ensemble performed at The Midwest Clinic: An International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago in 2011. The band was named the Region "Honor Band" by the Texas Music Educator's Association in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2011. In 2004 and 2019, the band was a TMEA CCC State finalist. 


Our bands have received "Superior Ratings" and "Best in Class" honors consistently at the D.C. Band Festivals since the onset of participating at the festival. The Band also won the "Best in Class" award at the Murchison Center Peak Music Festival in Denton, Texas. The Symphonic Band has received the highest award at the Director's Choice Festivals, "Overall Outstanding Band", ranking at the top of all bands numerous times. 


Additionally, our Symphonic Band was a National Winner in the Choice Music Events "National Wind Band Honors" in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022. The bands are consistent U.I.L. Sweepstakes award and First Division Superior Rating winners, and are highly represented in the Texas Music Educators Association District and Region band contests. 


In 2015, the CPMS Band was recognized by the Texas Bandmasters Association as the state "Exemplary Middle School Band Program".


Most recently, the CPMS Symphonic Band received an invitation to perform at the 73rd annual Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic. They traveled to Chicago, Illinois in December 2019 to perform in front of an international audience of over 2,000 musicians and music educators.


The staff consists of: Britni Hummel, head director; Brandon Morrison, associate director; Michelle Kim, associate director; and Roland Chavez, percussion instructor.
