Meet Mrs. Sommer!

Mrs. Sommer is a dedicated dance educator with a passion for developing strong, confident, and well-rounded dancers. She has spent the past four years at Leander High School serving as the Assistant Dance Director. During her time at LHS, Mrs. Sommer was the Head Director of the JV Sapphires while also assisting with the Varsity Blue Belles program. She played a significant role in choreography, performance production, event planning, and the continued growth of the dance program, while helping establishing the JV team as a strong and valued part of the organization. 

Mrs. Sommer is especially passionate about building students’ confidence, helping dancers reach their personal goals, and creating a positive and inclusive team culture centered around work ethic, character, and personal growth. She also values the importance of the middle school to high school pipeline and looks forward to helping students build a strong foundation and love for dance that will support them throughout their future dance careers.

Mrs. Sommer graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a minor in Education. During her time at Texas Tech, she performed in annual productions including DanceTech and the Fall Dance Festival and was selected to choreograph for the Fall Dance Festival during her junior year. She also served in multiple leadership roles within Chi Tau Epsilon, the dance honor society at Texas Tech, including Secretary, Vice President, and President.

Before attending Texas Tech, Mrs. Sommer was a member of the Silver Spurs Dance Team at Smithson Valley High School, where she served as a Senior Lieutenant and Elite Team member.

Mrs. Sommer is excited to begin this new chapter at Henry Middle School and looks forward to building meaningful relationships with students and families while creating a positive, encouraging, and inspiring environment for all dancers.
