Commitment Logs
Members will be given a commitment log at the beginning of every six weeks. You are responsible for keeping track of your points and hours throughout the six weeks. If you lose your commitment log, please grab one from Ms. Hunt
At the end of the six weeks, we will take time to reflect on our grades and record them at the bottom of our sheet. Meetings will be scheduled around the start and end of each six weeks.
"How many service points are required?"
Members must accumulate three service points and 2 service hours each six weeks grading period. One hour of volunteer work equals one point. You also earn points by attending meetings, but meetings do not count as service hours. Points earned over the summer count towards the first marking period. Extra points do not roll over from one marking period to the next.
"What constitutes eligible volunteer work?"
Members have great freedom in choosing what they'd like to volunteer doing - choose things that interest you!
Keep the following in mind before submitting your service points:
You must get the service hour(s) signed-off by an adult who is NOT the member's parent or guardian.
You may not receive monetary or material compensation for the service you provide.

Service Opportunities
*We will complete these throughout the school year
Organizations ~ Need prior approval from the organization and parent permission
Assist adults providing childcare or teaching younger children during religious services
Help at the Hill Country Food Pantry ~ Waiver Required
Assist at hospice or nursing homes, such as Resolutions Hospice
School Functions
Guide new students at orientation activities ~ *Bearkat Camp, New Family Orientation, *5th Grade Visits
Plan and volunteer for school dances
Join the Marquee rotation schedule
Help the office staff organize school supplies before the school year begins
Help a DMS teacher with a project ~ Library Inventory, Special Project, etc.
Neighborhood
Babysit a family friend's children for free
Care for a neighbor's pet for free
Clean up the neighborhood park
Visit community websites or ask your parents/guardians to join groups on Facebook to learn about many more local opportunities
School Beautification
Clean the Great Lawn
Help clean the school ~ Pick up trash, remove old signs, organize FLEX Spaces
Help clean teacher classrooms
Clean the Union after lunch
Care Packages
Homeless Packages
Birthday parties in a box
