The 2×2 Reading List is a project of the Texas Library Association created to highlight great books for early readers.

In February, all K-2 students at Deer Creek joined in the fun and started to read or listen to all 20 books during library specials time. After listening to a few books, the students would vote for their favorite book and that book would move forward to challenge other books, creating our own bracket of book champions.

Deer Creek students can still keep reading, listening, and voting at home! Just click on the 2x2 links to listen to the week's reading challenge books. Don't forget to vote for your favorite book, maybe your choice will be the winner!

You can make your own library at home!

April 20, 2020

Think of how the books are arranged at the library. How will you arrange the books in your library at home?

Can you arrange your books in alphabetical order by the author's last name? Can you group your nonfiction books by subject?

Do you know the parts of a book? Can you identify the spine, the title page and the front and back covers? Does your nonfiction book have a glossary, a table of contents and an index? How will you take care of the books in your home library?

Do you have a cozy place to read your books? Find some pillows or make a fort with blankets to make your perfect reading spot!
