Mission Statement

As the art department we will enforce the similar rules, procedures, and expectations in both classrooms. Every student will be held accountable to ensure the safety of themselves, fellow artists, teachers, staff and community members . In art students will be encouraged to explore as well as celebrate diversity and culture through their artwork. Students will have relevant and authentic experiences by studying a variety of artists and conducting discussion about their experiences. Students are expected to create appropriate artwork that meets the expectations of SDMS and LISD policies. Students will be most successful by challenging themselves as learners and leaders to create authentic artwork. This is an inclusive program. Students and staff will invest in their education, encourage taking art risks, meeting challenges with positivity, and impact each other by creating meaningful experiences. Although, we both will teach similar classes the coursework may look a little different and coursework will be created at different times of the year.
