Regardless of which online option chosen, courses are taken outside the student's school day and will not affect the student's CRMS schedule. Canyon Ridge does not offer a "study hall" for students to complete their work on campus. Leander ISD will not pay for an online option for 6-8 grade students.
A link to find out more about this option as well as courses offered can be found: Proximity Learning.
*Note: Parents must process a course through their child's grade level counselor. Parents can no longer directly pay for a proximity course.
Parents of students who choose this route will need to visit TxVSN and research the option. A link to find out more about this option as well as courses offered can be found: TxVSN. Often times, multiple vendors exist for a foreign language. In order to be a vendor for TxVSN, these entities must meet certain requirements. Therefore, it is up to the parent to decide which option to move forward with prior to requesting this option for their student. Parents will also need to make certain home computers meet the requirements necessary for the TxVSN option. Once a vendor is selected and a tech check has occurred, a CRMS counselor can register the student through TxVSN.
For this option, the student and parent would sign up for the course independent of LISD. When the student finishes each semester of the foreign language, the credit received will be awarded through the registrar's office. More information about correspondence courses can be found in the Academic Section under Correspondence Courses of the CRMS website.
