UIL JOURNALISM
UIL Journalism competes in 5 different writing events at the Academic UIL competitions- Newswriting, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Headline Writing and Copy Editing. To be on the UIL Journalism team, you need to see Mrs. Hert in room 2102. Students will compete in practice meets in the fall and early spring to prepare for the district meet, which is held in late March. Students chosen to compete at district will be the ones who placed highest in practice meets. Students that place in the top 3 in district move on the Regionals, and if they place in the top 3 at Regionals, they move on to the State UIL meet at The University of Texas in May.
Mrs. Hert will host UIL practices during Friday DEN meetings (not until mid October).
