Mr. Garcia is entering his tenth year teaching at CPHS and has worked in both news and public relations. For nearly four years he worked at KXXV-TV, ABC’s Waco affiliate, first as an intern and then a reporter. Most recently he served as the station’s Digital Content Manager, leading the charge on pushing the staff into a “digital first” mindset.
As a graduate from Baylor University, Mr. Garcia participated in the journalism school’s New York study-abroad program. He spent his time in the Big Apple interning with CBS and doing karaoke in Queens.
During Mr. Garcia’s time at Baylor he also interned with Midway ISD’s communication office and with Baylor University’s Institutional Events department. In that role, Mr. Garcia was part of planning events surrounding the grand opening of McLane Stadium.
Outside of school, Mr. Garcia spent seven years volunteering as a leader with his church’s high school youth group. It was in that role he grew a passion for working high school students . His other interests include politics, grilling, spending time downtown Austin and being involved in his church, Covenant Presbyterian.
