Dear Prospective Member:
RHO KAPPA Social Studies Honor Society is the only national organization for high school juniors and seniors that recognizes excellence in the field of Social Studies. The mission and purpose of this organization is to promote scholarship and to recognize academic excellence in social studies in secondary school environments and the community, to provide through its local chapters opportunities for exploration in the social studies in secondary school environments and the community, and to encourage interest in, understanding of, and appreciation for the social studies.
Rho Kappa is comprised of chapters. Each chapter is led by student officers who work with the chapter sponsor; together they determine and induct new society members, as well as plan chapter meetings and activities that engage their memberships. * What counts toward the 4 "AP" Social Studies Courses to be completed by graduation?
The following Semester ACC Courses would count for .5 of the 4 “AP” courses required for graduation each:
ACC Government = counts for .5 of the 4 “AP” courses required for graduation
ACC Macroeconomics = counts for .5 of the 4 “AP” courses required for graduation
ACC Microeconomics = counts for .5 of the 4 “AP” courses required for graduation
ACC US History 1301 = counts for .5 of the 4 “AP” courses required for graduation
ACC US History 1302 = counts for .5 of the 4 “AP” courses required for graduation
ACC Psychology = counts for .5 of the 4 “AP” courses required for graduation
ACC Sociology = counts for .5 of the 4 “AP” courses required for graduation
The following AP courses count for 1 FULL AP course of the 4 required by Rho Kappa for graduation:
AP Human Geography
AP World History
AP US History
AP Government (semester course, but still counts as 1 of the 4 required AP courses)
AP Macroeconomics (semester course, but still counts as 1 of the 4 required AP courses)
AP Microeconomics (semester course, but still counts as 1 of the 4 required AP courses)
AP Psychology
AP European History
** What do you mean when you say a weighted 95 average or better when averaging all Social Studies courses that have been completed?
For example, if a student completed the following courses & received the following grades he/she WOULD qualify for membership.
(Understanding, of course, that he/she would have to keep his/her Social Studies grades up & take the equivalent of 2 more AP Social Studies courses by graduation (such as AP Gov & AP Econ for example).
