In G5, we GRADE WITH PURPOSE:
4-7 grades in each subject area per marking period
More feedback, less “scoring”
Peer collaboration (practicing strategies, reviewing concepts, problem-solving, sharing ideas/tips)
Scoring - after sufficient time to show mastery
Formal assessments through quizzes, checkpoints, tests, reading passages and final draft writing pieces. Graded work sent home in Wednesday folders.
ANY assignment (including formal assessments) can be redone up to a 75% and replace the previous grade. Student must see classroom teacher for redo assignment.
Late work will be recorded in the grade book as a zero and when turned in will be scored up to a 75%
Disclaimer: The opportunity to correct assignments and assessments below 75% does not apply to district or state mandated tests.
