MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the Leander ISD Counseling Services Department is to provide a proactive and comprehensive counseling program which fosters academic, personal/social, and career development for all students.
Counseling partners with educators, parents/guardians and community members to ensure all students in Leander ISD are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.
VISION STATEMENT:
Support for every student, every day.
As we begin the school year, we want to ensure your child has access to the support and services provided by our school counselors. Due to recent legislative changes, specifically Senate Bill 12, school districts are now required to obtain parent/guardian consent before providing classroom guidance lessons and well-being questionnaires.
Please take a moment to review and submit your consent preferences—either opting in or out—so we can best support your student’s well-being and academic success.
These services may include (but not limited to):
Guidance Lessons: Classroom presentations led by the school counselor to support academic, career, and social-emotional development.
Well-Being Questionnaire: A brief screening tool administered by the counseling team and/or teachers to help identify students who may need additional social-emotional support.
Second Step Curriculum (Only applicable to elementary school students): Social-emotional lessons delivered by your child’s classroom teacher and/or counselor.
These selections will remain valid for the 2025-26 school year unless revoked.
Students who qualify for reduced‑price meals will now receive free breakfast and lunch at school during the 2025–26 and 2026–27 school years. Through a state grant authorized by the 89th legislative session, reduced‑price meals are now provided to families at no cost.
Completing a meal application not only ensures qualifying students receive free school meals but also may connect your family to valuable reduced‑cost programs and services. In addition, your application helps Leander ISD secure vital school meal and education funding.
We will continue to share more details about what’s available through school meal applications in the coming weeks. Applications are accepted year‑round, but applying early ensures your child receives benefits without delay. The deadline is September 25, 2025.
