While the district is closed in an effort to protect our community from the spread of COVID-19, our teachers and ancillary staff are committed to supporting the continued learning of students at home.

If your child has IEP goals in language arts, math, science, social studies, social skills or another area, he or she will have the opportunity to continue working on them during this time of distance learning. Your child’s special education teacher(s) will be communicating specific information regarding activities and lessons that address your child’s IEP goals. Please know that even when students are at school, they do not work on all of their IEP goals simultaneously. Typically, goals are developed in a stepwise fashion and students work on a couple of skills at a time. The same will be true during this time of distance learning. Your child will likely work on a small number of their goals over the next couple of months, rather than all of the goals contained in his or her IEP.

In terms of the activities and lessons designed to address your child’s IEP goals, some might be posted on this site, others might utilize the resources posted on this site, and others might be emailed or communicated via phone call. It all depends on your child’s goals and his or her individual needs. Please know your child’s special education teacher(s) will be in touch with the information you and your child need to access the activities. The special education teacher(s) can also support your child’s work in his or her virtual general education classroom.
