For LdF Fifth Grade
Literacy
- Students will know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
- Students will read grade level text with fluency and accuracy to support comprehension.
- Students will read independently with adequate stamina.
- Students will ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
- Students will draw accurate inferences from the text.
- Students will summarize two or more main ideas of a text and support with details.
- Students will use multiple strategies to determine the meaning of unknown words.
- Students will demonstrate understanding of capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
- Students will write independently with adequate stamina.
- Students will write for the appropriate audience.
Mathematics
- Students will use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols.
- Students will recognize that in a multi-digit number, a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to the right and 1/10 of what it represents in the place to its left.
- Students will read, write, and compare decimals to thousandths.
- Students will add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators.
- Students will solve real world problems involving multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers.
- Students will classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
- Students will recognize volume as an attribute of solid figures and understand concepts of volume measurement.
- Students will measure volumes by counting unit cubes, using cubic cm, cubic in, cubic ft, and improvised units.
- Students will understand the place value system in relation to number value.
- Students will perform the four operations with multi-digit whole numbers and with decimals to hundredths.
- Students will use the four operations with whole numbers to solve problems.
