If you did not take the ACT as a junior, or if you are not satisfied with your score, you may want to retake this test. Some schools have a minimum ACT score as a requirement for acceptance.
LHS will be offering an additional ACT Opportunity on October 21st & 22nd. More information to come via email.
The Oct. 18th test may be the final qualifying test for admission. CHECK WITH YOUR COLLEGE OF CHOICE.

Start applying to the schools that you are considering. Make sure to take your time during the application process. Avoid small, silly errors by having an adult look over your application and essays*.
Many schools require an application fee. Check with your school counselor to see if you qualify for a fee waiver.
Don't forget to request a transcript! All transcript requests must go through Parchment.

Think about the people you want to ask for letters of recommendation, such as, teachers, school counselors, coaches, and employers. It is best to gather 2-3 letters to send to colleges. Make sure you ask your recommenders with at least a two week notice from the application deadline and remember to express your gratitude for their help!
Get your letter of rec from your counselor rolling with a BRAG SHEET.
(Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You want to do this as soon as possible after the 2026-2027 form opens on October 1st. Remember: there are many resources where you can get help filling out the FAFSA if you need it. Talk to your school counselor if you have concerns.

There are both local and national scholarships. You need to apply for as many scholarships as you possibly can. They aren’t always easy to come by. Start the investigation now! Remember: you are not alone. Your school counselor can be of great assistance during this process.
Fairfield County Foundation Scholarship Help Night: December 4th 5-7 pm
Many scholarship deadlines will be creeping up on you soon. Make sure you don’t miss out on applying to scholarships or applying to your favorite school.
It should arrive 4 weeks after you file your FAFSA.
Compare financial aid packages from the different schools that you are considering. This can help you determine what school you want to attend.
National College Decision Day is May 1st. Notify the schools that you applied for but are not going to attend of your decision. Make sure your final transcript is sent in to the school of your choice.
