Spirit Birds

For School Board Appreciation Month, DMS Hybrid Art Students created simple birds out of clay, and glazed them a variety of colors using speckled glazes. The birds were then used as a lesson in pairing colors with emotions and personality traits. These examples were typed up and a copy was printed for each bird explaining the meaning behind the colors and the personalities it reflected. For the February 16th School Board meeting the birds were presented to the members as a gift of appreciation. Each member got to chose a bird of their liking, and a received the piece of paper explaining how the color they chose, reflected their personality. It is not completely accurate, but a fun lesson regardless.

This lesson has received a lot of positive feedback from the school board members. We are so glad they enjoyed this and are proudly displaying their bird in their offices and collections.
