Meet the Teacher

J. Keith Sellers

This is my 8th year teaching at BMS and I'm excited to be here. Although I'm not a native to Lancaster (only been here 26 years), my wife (Crissy Jenkins Sellers) and her family are, so I've been graciously adopted into the Yellow Jacket family. Love being a Jacket!

I was born and reared in Wilmington, NC. Swimming in the ocean and waterway, water skiing, and scuba diving were a part of my life from an early age. History was a big part of growing up in Wilmington also. Being a port city, it was instrumental in many of our country's wars.

At the age of 17, I felt a call into the ministry. I followed that call to Campbell University, where I studied music and religion and graduated with a degree in Church Music. My Masters degree is from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where I concentrated on divinity, music and education studies.

From 1979 to 2008, I served churches in NC and SC as a Minister of Music and Worship. I led adult choirs and ensembles, youth and children's choirs, and instrumental ensembles.

In August of 2008, I began my second career, teaching in the public schools. For 6 years I taught at McDonald Green Elementary (K-5), and now I have the privilege of working here. I teach chorus for each grade level all year long, and beginning piano 1st semester and beginning guitar 2nd semester.
