CONGRATULATIONS to Natali C for being a winner in the County Government Art & Essay Contest themed "What I think Lancaster County looked like 250 years ago and having her art work included in the April 30th District "We Are One" Newsletter!
The photographs below are from the statewide Youth Art Month (YAM) Exhibit at the main branch of the Richland Public Library. They were taken on Saturday, March 28th, 2026 during the Read Freely Fest. It was an incredible day with hundreds of readers and lovers of books. Often, I suggest to my students to say "yes" if you do not have a good reason to say no, because you never know what good things or opportunity awaits you.
When they said "yes" to doing the work to be in this exhibit, their artwork just happened to be behind the author's signing table . Signing books was one of the most popular and famous authors of the festival, Richard "Dick" Harpootlian as seen in the pictures. Also, joining him were noted authors Carl Borick and Steven Smith. What a cool picture and future talking point for our artists!
The staff members in the red tee-shirts were impressed with the art work which I proudly shared was that of my students. They were equally impressed when I pointed out their precise work with making a "sticker" which blended seamlessly into their blind contour drawings of our classroom Tree of Knowledge. Well done.
The district wide Youth Art Month Exhibit took place at the Lancaster County Council of the Arts beautiful historic building. The work of my Art I students was prominently displayed in the center hallway. These photos are from the opening reception for secondary students. It was a lovely event.
Our Barr Street students continue to progress as they begin the structural component for Art I. Below are images of the forms that will be featured in their capstone drawings accompanied by their descriptive drawings. We have origami cubes, flowers, cats, cows and sea creatures... oh my! Please check back to see the finished project.
