VDOE Back to Basics: 

Back to Basics is a professional development initiative designed to support Virginia school divisions with training teachers and division personnel on basic special education laws and regulations.  The Virginia Department of Education in partnership with Old Dominion University have created the Back to Basics Modules which provide introductory information on special education compliance. 

VDOE Speech Language Pathology: 

The professional development opportunities provided below are provided for use by SLPs to increase knowledge and skills. These offerings were developed by the Virginia Department of Education and may be used to satisfy continuing education requirements for Virginia SLPs and meet ASHA certification maintenance hour (CMH) requirements for those seeking to renew their ASHA CCC-SLP.

Comprehensive Instructional Program (CIP): 

The CIP is a consortium of public school divisions in Virginia working collaboratively to improve student achievement as measured by Virginia's Standards of Learning assessments.  The CIP is designed to help instructors by providing pacing guides, activities, and assessments that are highly aligned to Virginia's Curriculum Frameworks in content and rigor.  These resources have been submitted by teachers who have demonstrated superior performance as evidenced by their students' scores on Virginia's SOL assessments.
