Woodgrove High School Debate Program

Woodgrove High School has one of the top 100 debate programs in the United States, but we are always looking for new members! In recent years, we have won the Virginia State Championship, been ranked second in the state twice, and have sent numerous debaters to Nationals. Several of our debaters have gone on to do college debate as well.

Team practices are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4-5:30 p.m. in Room 407, and tournaments are generally on Saturdays from October through March (with advanced debaters moving on to higher level competitions in the spring).

We are expanding our offerings to help students participate in speech and forensics events. Working collaboratively with the Forensics team, Woodgrove Speech and Debate provides opportunities for students to compete in the local speech circuit in addition to the VHSL forensics competition.
