The Sugarland Garden

The Sugarland Garden is a special place! Our garden has grown and blossomed thanks to the support and hard work of Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardener, Diane Bayless. Mrs. Bayless (Ms. Diane to the students) leads monthly, garden related, and curriculum supporting, instruction for all Sugarland students. She has also worked with the Garden Club to plan and plant the garden, often donating plants from her own yard. The Sugarland Garden is an outdoor classroom where students can explore the sensory area, check for monarchs in the pollinator garden space, or help plant and harvest the vegetable beds.

We recently worked with a former student, and current Scout, on his Eagle Project in our garden. Thanks to his hard work, we now have the plant life cycle, butterfly life cycle and water cycle on display in our garden.
