5th Grade Website

Notes about our schedule:

Our day begins promptly at 8:00am. At this time, we watch announcements, go over our schedule for the day, write in our agenda, and build classroom community during morning meeting. Please avoid tardiness, if possible, as this is an important part of our day!

Puma Power is our remediation time. Students who could use more support in math and reading (based on MAP data) will be pulled into small learning groups. You will be notified if your child qualifies for one of these groups. The remaining students will have personalized work during this time.

Notes about specials:

Please make sure your child wears comfortable clothes and sneakers on days they have P.E.

Library will be every other week for your child. Make sure your child returns their library books on their Library day so they can check out new books. NO NEW BOOKS will be checked out if your child has any that are overdue.

Music, Art, and P.E. are graded subjects for your child. If possible, please avoid early dismissals or doctor's appointments during these times. When a child misses their special, it can be hard to make-up the work they miss. We understand this can't be avoided at times, but appreciate the consideration!

Notes about DARE:

A rite of passage in 5th grade is participating in DARE with the wonderful Deputy Harrington. DARE teaches students to be empowered to respect others and choose to lead lives free from violence, substance use, and other dangerous behaviors.

DARE will be every other week for 45 minutes.

Students have TWO required projects in order to successfully complete the DARE program. These are REQUIRED for DARE graduation at the end of the year. More information will be sent home about these projects when DARE starts in mid-September.
