FIRST READTHROUGH AND REHEARSAL
Saturday, January 27
9AM-4PM
All actors, tech, and directors called
FIRST THINGS FIRST...REALITY CHECK.
The majority of people who audition for this production will be in the ensemble.
There are only 14 named roles and 40+ people who will audition.
Not everyone can be the lead. If you are cast, regardless of where you are placed, you should be very proud. This is an amazing opportunity. Being a non-lead character does not mean you did anything wrong. It means that you performed just like the majority of other actors did, because the majority of other actors are not leads. Being part of this production is a huge honor and a LOT of fun. I know I can't wait to see how amazing you are at auditions and throughout the rehearsal process! It's such a wonderful chance to grow as a performer and as a human being.
Commitment
Activities such as sports are not compatible with performing in this production. Trust me when I say you will not have time to do both.
Being in a theatre production at Stone Bridge is not a casual commitment. This exciting opportunity requires a great deal of your time. Our absentee policy is strict.
The fee to participate in this production is $75, which is the same as the fee to participate in athletics. The fee includes your costume, props, and many other materials needed for a successful show. This $75 does not cover everything we need, and we rely on you bringing out as many people to see the show as possible!
If you are unable to pay the fee, there is an exemption form available for you from the Main Office.
If you do not pay the fee by the deadline, you will be dropped from the production. All of this will be explained at the parent meeting.
The number of rehearsals you are required to attend will vary depending on your role and our stage in the production process.
Be prepared for a great deal of line and blocking memorization outside of rehearsal time.
Performers must be present for all four performances, as well as a set strike.
During tech week, which is REQUIRED FOR ALL ACTORS AND TECHNICIANS, rehearsals run late, sometimes as late as 10:30 PM. It is a fact of theatre that tech week runs late, and it cannot and will not be done any other way. If staying late during tech week is not acceptable to you, do not be part of this production. Talk to your parents and prepare them for these late nights. Dinner will be provided for an additional fee through the Parent Boosters.
MEMORIZATION OCCURS OUTSIDE OF REHEARSAL TIME.
Rehearsals are for scene work, logistics, performer safety, and more. A performer who fails to meet memorization deadlines will be cut.
Casting information
I do not yet know if there will be understudies. If there are, understudies will do one performance on Saturday afternoon.
Casting decisions are final. Complaining about the cast list is a quick way to create a bad reputation for oneself. It also will not change the director's decision.
You will indicate you have accepted your role by attending the first readthrough rehearsal. If you do not attend this rehearsal, you will be replaced.
If you do not accept your role, and would like to drop out of the production, you may do so by not attending the first readthrough.
If you drop out of or are removed from the production after 6 PM on January 27, you will not be eligible to participate in any Running Dog Productions activities for 12 months. Your show fee will not be refunded.
Exceptions will ONLY be made in extremely severe circumstances (hospital stay, funeral, etc.) with proper documentation and at the director's discretion.
