STRIKE
All technicians and actors must attend Strike. Strike is the Monday after the show closes and it lasts until 7:30. If you miss strike and it is not for an approved reason such as illness, you will not receive Thespian Points for participating in this show.
The First Readthrough
Attendance at the first readthrough is mandatory for all actors and crew members.
If you are unable to attend the first readthrough, and you want to remain in the production, you must email the directing staff or a stage manager.
If you are absent from the first readthrough and did not communicate your absence via email ahead of time, you will be cut from the production.
After the cast and crew list is posted, you need to think about whether or not you would like to stay in this production. Make your decision by 6 PM on January 27. Email the director if you would like to drop out.
If you drop out of or are removed from the production after 6 PM on January 27, you will not be eligible to participate in any Running Dog Productions activities for 12 months. Your show fee will not be refunded.
Exceptions will ONLY be made in extremely severe circumstances (hospital stay, funeral, etc.) with proper documentation and at the director's discretion.
Attendance Policy for Performers
IF YOU NEED TO MISS A REHEARSAL, YOU MUST SEND AN EMAIL WITH "REHEARSAL" IN THE SUBJECT LINE BEFORE REHEARSAL BEGINS.
Emails can be sent to any one of the following people: Director, Assistant director, Stage manager(s)
During the musical, missing a rehearsal could mean you are cut from a song, from choreography, or from scenes.
It is extremely difficult to rehearse without you there, and sometimes we must move on without you.
Rehearsal attendance is documented daily. Not every actor will be called every day, so you must diligently follow the calendar to know when you are called. Actors may miss up to 3 rehearsals, REGARDLESS OF REASON.
WE DO NOT HAVE EXCUSED AND UNEXCUSED ABSENCES.
An absence is an absence is an absence.
Here's how this works:
1. Suzie wrote on her audition form that she has an appointment during a rehearsal, so she won't be there. That counts as one.
2. Suzie has a date with her boyfriend and misses rehearsal. That's two.
3. Suzie gets sick and misses a day. That's three. She is assigned an understudy if she doesn't already have one.
4. Suzie didn't read the rehearsal calendar, so she misses rehearsal a fourth time. Suzie is cut from the production because she is now at absence number four. Her understudy will now perform the role.
DO NOT ASK, "Is it okay if I miss rehearsal on x day?". The answer is no. I do not give people permission to miss rehearsal. We need you at rehearsal. That is why we have it. You can miss rehearsal, but it will count as one of your 3 absences.
Exceptions will ONLY be made in extremely severe circumstances (hospital stay, funeral, etc.) with proper documentation and at the director's discretion.
If you are absent from PHOTO CALL DAY, regardless of the reason, you will not appear in publicity photos for the production.
No make-up photo sessions will be scheduled.
IN CONCLUSION: You have 3 absences to use at your discretion. At absence number 4, you are cut from the production.
Attendance Policy for Tech
Most tech crew members do NOT need to come to every rehearsal.
IF YOU NEED TO MISS A REQUIRED REHEARSAL, YOU MUST SEND AN EMAIL WITH "REHEARSAL" IN THE SUBJECT LINE BEFORE REHEARSAL BEGINS.
Emails can be sent to any one of the following people: Director, Assistant director, Stage manager(s)
At the first readthrough, you will connect with your crew head. Your crew head will communicate the dates on which you are expected to work on the show.
If you are planning to work backstage or in the booth, mic table, etc. during the production, attendance at tech week is required.
Running crew will start attending rehearsals about halfway through the process. Again, your run crew heads will keep you informed.
If your lack of attendance has a negative impact on your crew, or you are not being productive when you attend, you may be removed from tech crew. Your crew heads will communicate with the directors, TDs, and stage managing staff when issues arise. Final decisions will come from the adults in charge.
