6th grade is the ONLY time that students sign up for a band instrument!
In other words, if you do not choose band in 6th grade, then you may not sign up for band in 7th or 8th grade. This is the only chance! If your child is even slightly interested, then please consider band as a music choice.
NO PRIOR MUSIC EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED!!
We will provide your child with all the instruction they need to be successful!!
To sign up for band:
Talk to your child's school counselor about how to select band as your music course option for sixth grade! Course selection choices for music include: Band 6, Strings 6, Chorus 6, and Music Lab 6.
Your child's music schedule:
students will meet for 45 minutes on "A" Days and the class lasts for a full year.
Your child's instrument choice will determine whether they are in Woodwinds 6, Brass 6, or Percussion 6.
Homework Requirements:
Students will be guided during class, but reinforcement happens individually at home. There will also be some assignments completed at home digitally.
A consistent, nightly practice routine is ideal for success.
Rehearsals and Concerts:
There will be two concerts during the school year, one in January and one in April/May.
Each concert will have mandatory after-school rehearsals with transportation provided.
Concerts are free and we encourage you to join us!
