Module 9 Skills:
Module 9 typically focuses on more advanced phonics patterns such as vowel teams (like ai, ee, oa), r-controlled vowels (ar, er, ir, or, ur), and more complex long-vowel patterns. Students use these patterns to decode and spell longer, more complex words while building fluency.
Be sure to check out the parent communication paper that comes home to show what we are working on each week.
Students are learning to write nonfiction opinion pieces where they share their thoughts about a topic and support their ideas with reasons. They are practicing how to clearly state an opinion, give supporting details, and write with a clear beginning, middle, and end.
Graphing
Students will ask questions and collect data, then organize it using object graphs, picture graphs, and tables. They will learn how to read and understand this data and share what they discover.
Science:
Students will observe and describe how the weather changes over time, including temperature, sunlight, and precipitation. They will learn how daily weather is connected to the seasons. Students will also explore how these changes affect plants, animals, and people.
