The Loudoun International Summit engages international participants and Loudoun County students utilizing the leading global education frameworks.
The LCPS Profile of a Graduate describes the knowledge, skills, experiences, and attributes that each student must attain to be successful in college and/or the work force and to be "life ready".
These skills are referred to as the 5Cs - Collaborator, Communicator, Contributor, Creator, and Critical Thinker.
The Loudoun International Summit provides students with authentic and engaging opportunities to develop these skills.
The Asia Society's global competence framework, which emphasizes the development of skills that empower students to investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicate ideas, and take action, serves as the pedagogical framework for summit activities.
Summit activities are also consistent with the principles outlined in the National Council for the Social Studies position paper on Global and International Education and the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards.
Each year students in Loudoun County select global issues that they want to address with their peers from around the world. Invariably, these issues link with the Global Goals established by the United Nations, empowering students to be part of a larger movement to address global inequality. Resources from #TeachSDGs and the World's Largest Lesson empower teachers to engage students in learning about these issues in connection with summit.
