What is NHS at HHS?

More than just an honor roll, the National Honor Society is a national organization dedicated to the four pillars of scholarship, service, leadership and character among high school students. At Heritage High School, our members volunteer at school and in the local community along with working with national and global organizations.

Scholarship: Students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 by the beginning of their junior or senior year meet the scholarship requirement. These students are then eligible for consideration on the basis of service, leadership, and character.

Service: This quality is defined through the voluntary contributions made by a student to the school and or community. These positive contributions must be completed without any compensation and with a courteous and enthusiastic spirit.

Leadership: Student leaders are dependable, resourceful, and good at solving problems. They promote school activities and contribute ideas while employing positive attitudes about life. Their varied leadership experiences can be drawn from many levels of involvement at school or in the community.

Character: Students of good character who uphold moral and ethical principles and who are courteous and cooperative. These young people demonstrate high standards of honesty and reliability while showing concern and respect for others.
