Students drive in residential, rural, and city/freeway settings. The DMV-approved road test will be administered on day seven. To be eligible to take behind-the-wheel (BTW) instruction, students must have attended a Partners for Safe Teen Driving presentation and have completed half of the classroom phase with an “A” or “B” grade average. BTW consists of seven days of instruction (50 minutes driving and 50 minutes observing). All high schools offer BTW before and after school.
We strongly suggest that students and parents are familiar with the 45-hour parent/teen driving guide before coming to the first Behind the Wheel class. Download the 45-Hour Parent/Teen Driving Guide
The student's Virginia learner’s permit number is required at the time of registration.
