Claude Moore Community Builders

CMCB is a ten-month program running from June – March each year. Applications open on March and at the end of April each year. Historically, approximately 25 youth have gone through the program each year.  “Builders” will complete: 50 hours at a non-profit placement or combination of placements,  30 hours at service-day events where we volunteer together,  and 20 hours at ‘curriculum days’ where students learn about various topics such as leadership, communication and personal finance.  FREE. Space is limited. Application deadline 4/30/22.

Women Giving Back 

We welcome volunteers of all skill levels to contribute their time and talents, supporting local women as they gain the strength, stability, and confidence they need to rebuild their lives. Whether as an individual, corporate team, community, faith-based group or just a group of friends, there are many ways to volunteer.

Heritage Farm Museum:  Kid's Night at the Museum  - Second Saturday of each month. Volunteers are needed to help every Kid's Night at the Heritage Farm Museum located on the grounds of Claude Moore Park at 21668 Heritage Farm Lane in Sterling. Heritage Farm Museum: Home For The Holidays - Tuesday, December 27th 9:30am to 2:30pm.  Volunteers help families celebrate winter break! Volunteers are needed to assist kids with crafts and games, gallery and kids area monitoring, customer service and general gallery maintenance. The Museum is located on the grounds of Claude Moore Park at 21668 Heritage Farm Lane in Sterling. LINK Against Hunger - Non-profit organization that exists to provide emergency food to people in Herndon, Sterling, and Ashburn. The all-volunteer staff members at LINK believe in the power of selfless service and the importance of providing people in crisis with unconditional love. 

Loudoun Animal Shelter - Requirement is at least 8 hours per month for 6 months. This is a long-term commitment. 

Loudoun Cares - Loudoun Cares is an organization that is designed to connect the citizens of Loudoun County with an unlimited amount of volunteer opportunities in the area.  Through the Loudoun Cares Volunteer Center website, teens can find and sign up for volunteer opportunities that interest them, help those in need, and track their service hours to receive recognition.

Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers  - a nonprofit charity that assists elderly and disabled adults across the country. 

The Student Caregiver program is offered to students age 12-18 and enables students to volunteer in (a) group projects and (b) teams of 2 to 4 students with one vetted adult volunteer (usually a parent or teacher). SC teams are then set-up with either an individual care receiver who is seeking supportive services from LVC. Services may include: shopping, walking, playing games, light housekeeping, reading, or yard work. Make a Wish Foundation - Spanish speakers needed to help children with life-threatening illnesses. 301-962-9474

MADD Loudoun - Volunteers assemble ribbons for the annual Tie One On for Safety campaign. Stores nad businesses ae needed to distribute the ribbons. Students can receive two community service hours for every 500 ribbons. 703-771-8127, maddloudoun@aol.com

Medical Explorers Program - This program is run by the Community Affairs Department through Inova Loudoun Hospital. This program provides high school students, 16+ years old, the opportunity to explore different careers in the medical field for high school freshmen through seniors. Wheatland Farm Equestrian Center  - Volunteers are always needed in our riding program, KidsKare Salon, and our event planning. 

Paws4People - Work at an organization that trains therapy dogs for classrooms, nursing homes and hospitals. Dog handlers, administrators, directors of community outreach, webmaster and web content manager are needed.
