At callbacks, any song from the show is fair game, so listen to the cast recording (not the movie soundtrack). You will have a small amount of time to learn a part of a song before you perform it.

ALL ABOUT AUDITIONING FOR A MUSICAL AT STONE BRIDGE
First things first...reality check.
The majority of the people auditioning will be cast in the ensemble.
(Dr. Flynn moment) I say again:
The majority of the people auditioning will be cast in the ensemble.
This is an amazing opportunity! Some roles have more lines than others; not everyone can be the lead. Regardless of where you are placed, you will get stage time. Being a non-lead character does not mean you did anything wrong. It means that you performed just like the majority of other actors did, because the majority of other actors are not leads. Being part of this production is a huge honor and a LOT of fun. I know I can't wait to see how amazing you are at auditions and throughout the rehearsal process! It's such a wonderful chance to grow as a performer and as a human being.
Commitment
Being in a theatre production at Stone Bridge is not a casual commitment. This exciting opportunity requires a great deal of your time, so please be prepared.
Activities such as spring sports are not compatible with performing in this production. Trust me when I say you will not have time to do both.
The fee to participate in this production is $75, which is the same as the fee to participate in athletics. The fee includes your costume, props, and many other materials needed for a successful show. If you are unable to pay the fee, there is an exemption form available for you. The fee is due by midnight on FRIDAY, MARCH 3. If you do not pay the fee by this time, you will be dropped from the production.
Rehearsals will be 3-5 days per week, depending on your role and our stage in the production.
Some rehearsals will take place before school, and some will take place after school. This is new this year, so please take a look at the rehearsal calendar for more information.
Be prepared for a great deal of line, music, and blocking memorization outside of rehearsal time.
All leading roles will be at rehearsals most days during the week.
Performers must be present for all seven performances, as well as a set strike.
During tech week, which is REQUIRED FOR ALL ACTORS AND TECHNICIANS, rehearsals run late, sometimes as late as 10:00 PM. It is a fact of theatre that tech week runs late, and it cannot and will not be done any other way. If staying late during tech week is not acceptable to you, do not be part of this production. Talk to your parents and prepare them for these late nights. Dinner will be provided for an additional fee through the Parent Boosters.
All performers are expected to memorize lines, music, and blocking.
MEMORIZATION OCCURS OUTSIDE OF REHEARSAL TIME.
Rehearsals are for scene work, logistics, performer safety, and more. A performer who fails to meet memorization deadlines will be replaced.
Attendance Policy
This has changed since last year's musical, so please read carefully.
Rehearsal attendance is documented daily. Not every actor will be called every day, so you must diligently follow the calendar to know when you are scheduled to attend. Actors may miss up to 3 rehearsals, REGARDLESS OF REASON.
At 3 absences, you will be assigned an understudy if you do not already have one. Your understudy will perform at the understudy shows, so you will lose 2 performances.
You may also be cut from certain songs/scenes.
At 4 absences, you are cut from the show.
Here's how this works:
1. Suzie wrote on her audition form that she has an appointment during a rehearsal, so she won't be there. That counts as one.
2. Suzie has a date with her boyfriend and misses rehearsal. That's two.
3. Suzie gets sick and misses a day. That's three. She has a role with a few lines, so she now has an understudy.
4. Suzie didn't read the rehearsal calendar, so she misses rehearsal a fourth time. Suzie is cut from the production because she is now at absence number four.
DO NOT ASK, "Is it okay if I miss rehearsal on x day?". The answer is no. I do not give people permission to miss rehearsal. We need you at rehearsal. That is why we have it. You can miss rehearsal, but it will count as one of your 3 absences.
IN CONCLUSION: You have 3 absences allowed before you are cut from the production. Use them how you want. Not every character is called every day, so it should be very easy for you to adhere to this policy. There are no "Excused" and "Unexcused" absences. Exceptions will ONLY be made in extremely severe circumstances (hospital stay, funeral, etc.) with proper documentation and at the director's discretion. But, to be honest, if you have to miss 4 or more rehearsals and we are getting close to opening the show, you have missed 30-40% of the days you have been called. It is likely we will need to move on without you, and that's not because we don't love you, and it doesn't mean your reasons for missing rehearsal are invalid. It just means we have a show to produce and other people who deserve a scene partner.
Do not test it. This is your warning. Do not miss more than 3 rehearsals for which you are called, or you will be cut.
Casting information
All roles are open to all Stone Bridge High School students. No role is "owed" to anyone, regardless of experience, parental involvement, seniority, etc.
There will be some roles that pop up that are not posted on the initial cast list. This can be a great chance for people in ensemble roles to have more stage time. Show up to rehearsal, work hard, and have a good attitude, and you will reap the rewards.
There may be understudies for this production. Understudies will perform in at least one performance, maybe two. It all depends on how things go at auditions.
Read the script and the character information to inform your acting choices. Make a character of your own with unique quirks, physicality, and more.
The cast list will be posted on the Schoology page.
Casting decisions are final.
Questions about casting will not be answered until at least 48 hours after the cast list is posted.
You will indicate you have accepted your role by attending the first rehearsal. If you do not attend this rehearsal, you will be replaced.
If you do not accept your role, and would like to drop out of the production, you may do so by not attending the first readthrough.
If you drop out of the production after FEBRUARY 11, you will not be eligible to participate in any Running Dog Productions activities for 12 months. Your show fee will not be refunded.
Exceptions will ONLY be made in extremely severe circumstances (hospital stay, funeral, etc.) with proper documentation and at the director's discretion.
